TERRITORIAL EXTENSION / 2002

 

“TERRITORIAL EXTENSION” was a series of works done in 2002, which established partnerships territorial phenomena, such as territorial control at different levels or the relationship between overcrowding and territorial impact.

 

For these works was used  “Micro X” as refencia area, which has an space of ​​400 m x 600 m, in the eastern perisphery of Havana, Cuba, and is created in the 70s, following European rationalist models of economy of space. 16m3 area was calculated as the minimum floor space per person, which is a constant to this day, not the population of the same, which has exceeded residential standards. Lack of space, as a phenomenon has generated numerous territorial extensions.

 

In this case: Was a intervention in the coast of Micro X, (located east of Havana), which had the purpose of extracting a fragment of coast, following the pattern the  m3 occupied by the habitants in this area.
